Terms

Last updated 26 September 2026

The rules for using Muddle. Short, because the site is a puzzle game and you should not need a lawyer to read about one.

1Who you are agreeing with

Muddle is operated by Loubna Channouf Cherradi, 50 rue de la gare, 3771 Tétange, Luxembourg (“we”). Using the site means accepting these terms. You can reach us at hello@playmuddle.com.

2What Muddle is

A daily puzzle site. Four puzzles are published every day at 00:00 UTC, the same ones for everybody, and playing them is free and does not need an account. We may add games, retire games, or change how one works.

We do not promise the site is always available. It is a puzzle game, not a utility, and it will occasionally be down.

3Accounts

You do not need one. If you make one, keep your password to yourself — you are responsible for what happens under your account until you tell us it is compromised.

Give a display name that is not offensive, and not one that pretends to be somebody else. We may change or remove a name that breaks that, and tell you why.

You can delete your account at any time by emailing hello@playmuddle.com. We may close an account that is used to attack the site, cheat the leaderboard, or harass anybody — and except where it is seriously abusive, we will tell you first.

4Fair play

Please do not:

  • automate play, script the site, or use more than one account to climb the leaderboard;
  • try to extract puzzle answers before they are published, or help others do so;
  • attack, overload or probe the site, or attempt to reach data that is not yours;
  • copy the puzzles wholesale to republish them elsewhere.

Sharing your own result, including the little grid of squares, is entirely welcome. That is what it is for.

5Paid subscriptions

Today’s puzzles are free, and will stay free. We intend to charge for access to the back catalogue. If and when we do:

  • the price and the billing period will be shown clearly before you pay, including VAT;
  • a subscription renews automatically until you cancel it;
  • you can cancel at any time, and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for;
  • we will email you before any price change, with time to cancel.

6Your 14-day right to change your mind

As a consumer in the EU you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase, without giving a reason.

Because a subscription gives you access immediately, we will ask you to confirm two things at the moment you buy: that you want access to start straight away, and that you understand this means you lose the right of withdrawal once it is fully performed. If you withdraw within the 14 days after starting, you pay only for the part you used.

To withdraw, email hello@playmuddle.com. A sentence is enough. We refund within 14 days, by the same method you paid with.

7What belongs to whom

The games, the puzzles, the text and the design are ours. You may not copy or republish them, beyond sharing your own results and linking to us.

Anything you send us — a report of a wrong fact, a bug, a suggestion — we may act on freely and without owing you anything for it. We will not publish your name without asking.

8Facts in the games, and mistakes

The puzzles rest on thousands of populations, dates, heights and weights. We check them, and some will still be wrong. The content is provided for entertainment and is not a reference work — please do not use Muddle to settle an argument.

If you find a wrong fact, tell us via the contact page. We correct them.

9Liability

We provide the free part of the site as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using it.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited — death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else the law does not permit us to exclude. If you have paid for a subscription, our liability to you is limited to what you paid in the twelve months before the claim.

10Your rights as a consumer stay yours

If you are a consumer in the EU, you keep every right your national law gives you. Nothing in these terms takes any of that away, and where a clause here conflicts with those rights, those rights win.

11Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes, and if you have an account we will email you at least 30 days before anything material takes effect. If you do not agree, you may close your account, and we will refund any unused part of a subscription.

12Law, and where a dispute is heard

These terms are governed by the law of Luxembourg. As a consumer you may always bring proceedings in the courts of the country you live in, and you keep the protection of its mandatory consumer law — nothing above changes that.

Please email us first — most things are settled in a message. You may also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
